Funeral Expenses for Hollingsworth

Seymour Hollingsworth, along with the rest of the members of the 11th Pennsylvania regiment, were honorably discharged from the army July 1, 1865 at the conclusion of the Civil War.

As Hollingsworth wrote in a letter Dec 8, 1899, after leaving the army, “I went home to Youngstown PA, Westmoreland County Penn. In October 1866 I went to Ohio, Palo Alto Seneca Co Ohio. I lived in Ohio over a year. Then I came back to Penn. I lived in Johnstown County PA. I lived in Johnstown in 1868, 1869 and part of 1870. In 1870 I moved to Indiana, Indiana Co. Pennsylvania. In 1871, I moved to Brad. PO Westmoreland County Pennsylvania. In 1880 I moved to Derry Station Westmoreland County Penn. In 1884 I moved to Greensburg Westmoreland County Penn. In 1894 I moved back to Derry Station Westmoreland County. All of these years I worked at my trade carpentering or contracting where I was able to follow my occupation. In 1880 I had to quit my occupation on the Penn Rail Road on the accident of my hearing. I also being afflicted with Rheummatism more or less.”

Shortly after the war, Hollingsworth married Sue A. Smith on November 22, 1865. She died on March 1, 1873. They have two children, Charles, born March 3, 1867, and Alvar, born January 1, 1870. He then married Lizzie Liggett on June 30, 1874. They have four children. Mae was born on June 30, 1875. Irene was born on September 30, 1876. Seymour was born on December 14, 1883 and Nelson was born on January 26, 1885. Lizzie died on June 28, 1889. Hollingsworth third wife was Sarai Strickler and they married on November 29, 1895.

Seymour Hollingsworth died on October 6, 1931 in Jeannette, PA.
